The High Lands! Scotland Comic Con 2022

This was a big old con in many ways, the journey was big, the guests were big, the event was big and the fun was big! We had a cracking time with the folk from Monopoly in the Royal Highland Centre.

Scotland Comic Con was always going to be hard work for us since we had to drive all the way from the South coast up to Edinburgh. Thankfully, my sister lives about halfway so we got to kill two birds with one stone and got a family visit in too. The drive was tough both ways with some serious gales and driving rain making it very difficult to sleep; I’m very lucky that Mrs Brambledown does the majority of the driving!

The guests were next level, headlined by Ewan McGregor, so of course I had to do a couple of pictures. I had an Obi Wan and a Renton from Trainspotting, both of which got a lot of attention. It would have been lovely to meet Ewan but to be honest we didn’t have enough time to leave the table to see many of the celebrities.

What we did see was a whole bunch of amazing cosplayers and a host of customers we had met in Aberdeen and Edinburgh at earlier events. It’s a really lovely part of our job that we meet people that are having such a good time and that they remember us from year to year. Donald Duckling, the slinky dog and "toilet roll" Iron Man were probably my favourite cosplays of the weekend for the combination of cuteness and creativity.

All in all, I’d say that Monopoly ran a cracking event and I’d highly recommend it as both a trader and a visitor. We’ve already booked in for next year!
